Youth Divers

Hey Guys,
We are just putting together a plan to help raise funds for the Mount Maunganui Underwater Club Youth division. The idea would be that family and friends, basically anyone who likes water would be able to come down to Earth2ocean Dive Shop on the 28th or 29th of July and do a try dive. Basically with a try dive an instructor kits you up with scuba gear, gives you two basic skills to try then sets you free in the 3.8m deep pool to have a play.
The pool is 32 degrees and kids as young as 8 years are able to try scuba. If you were already a certified diver then you can jump in the pool and refresh your skills in the water.
The Youth Group would be washing cars, boats and cooking a BBQ.
Chris Munday, the service technician, will be bench-testing regulators for free if you wanted to bring your gear down, also we are hoping to have a helicopter simulator which you get harnessed into then the simulator gets tipped over and you have to free yourself while you are upside down in the pool, all safety precautions taken of course! All of the events, car washes etc will require a gold coin donation to help get the Youth Group out diving.

The weather of the weekend look pretty good. There is a 2m max swell out there at the moment and it's set to drop to around 1m over the weekend. The winds are minimal and the sun will be shining so there's no reason not to get out there.  The water temp is 16 degrees but depends how hard you are really, you could shift to Australia where it's nice and warm and everything bites you or just put on some thermals under your wetsuit. Visibility was good earlier this week but the swell will have stirred things up close to shore. Head to the open water reefs or Mayor Island  for the best conditions.
